Of course. But you’re still on a set handling a Star Wars piece of media but without any of the tidal wave of drama drowning you.

Plus, I’m sure the money ain’t bad when it’s a bunch of indie directors.

I like it. I really only want The Mandalorian to be a series of disconnected episodes so I don’t mind the criticism that it’s not building to anything. I hated season 2 for getting way too big with too many characters and I really just wanted ”The Adventures of Mando and Baby Yoda Just Doing Things I Guess.”

Like, I actively didn’t want Luke Skywalker and the return of a great evil in my Mando show. I just want a monster of the week show.

It’s not perfect but it’s way better than I thought it’d be when Luke Skywalker showed up last season. It also clearly was shot around Pedro Pascal’s availability.

I think directors really want to make a Star Wars movie but are kinda afraid of making one because everything is so messy on the movie front. But doing a Star Wars tv show lets them live their dream without the drama.

On paper it has some intense competition. AMC has just never been able to cash in on Better Call Saul and it has a multi-headed hydra of top shelf HBO stuff to go up against. The White Lotus, House of the Dragon, Succession and The Last of Us plus everything else.

I’d still go with BCS if only because they never got a win but I wouldn’t be shocked if they got snubbed.

There’s not much measures up to it.

Sharp Objects is pretty much the rightful True Detective season 2 though. Not nearly as perfect but as close as I’ve seen.

The movie Prisoners is very similar too.

In general things that are very great too even if they’re not very similar to True Detective is:

The Knick (very grisly show but amazing)

Normal People

Chernobyl

Bojack Horseman

Yeah I knew it was over the second that story broke and she apologized for it. It was an interesting little show but that was the final nail in the coffin. There’s no way a show about that kinda stuff keeps going when one of the main cast admits to that stuff.
