It has to burn. or else bad fortune will strike the world. It didn't burn in 2017,2018,2019, 2020. And look where that got us.

Reply to TIL Larry Graham of Sly and the Family Stone is widely credited with introducing percussive playing on the electric bass in the 1969 song Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Again). He stated that he developed bass slapping in an earlier band in order to compensate for that band's lack of a drummer. by trifletruffles

Larry Graham is also a professional grade shit-talker and has given several different version of his "discovery" of slap-bass.

HOWEVER: It is fairly certain that he was the one that really did introduce the slap and pop technique. He might not have been the first to slap a bass string, but that unique 'slap-and-pop' is most likely his creation.

AND, He is incredible good at it.

His old instruction video is still a goldmine.
