TIL that elements of the ancient Mesopotamian religion (first formed in the 6th millennium BC) may have survived until the early 20th century. The Shamsīyah, a sect of sun-worshippers, persisted in southeastern Turkey (sometimes outwardly adopting Christian customs) until the early 1900s.

TIL that the Flag of Puerto Rico's colors are not specifically defined. While its independence-era flags used a sky blue, and its readoption in 1952 used a dark blue to match the US flag, there is no official definition for what shade of blue must be used in the flag.

Yeah, I've eaten them too! Seen them several times in very ordinary grocery stores, not in large quantity but they exist. I do enjoy the taste. Only thing I don't like is that it's much harder to tell when a red banana is ripe. Since, y'know. Red.
