We recently finished the AMC Interview With a Vampire series and it was so good. Neither of us are into Anne Rice so we've never read the books, didn't have any source material to compare it to. I really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to season 2.

We also watched Violent Night a few days ago with our teenager. Everyone really enjoyed that, too. It's a little gruesome for my tastes but pretty tame for a horror movie.

Lunch is a shepherds pie tater tot casserole thing my husband made for dinner last night. It was delicious. Let's see how it reheats. I usually grab a soda from the vending machine to go with lunch but it turns out the machine is down today. Guess I'll be stuck with the healthier route and have water.

We watched it last weekend. When it ended we looked at each other and said "Well, that was weird."

Update: he just woke up a little after 10 and seems fine. Fingers crossed!

I have no major plans, but one of my dear friends was induced at midnight, so here's hoping for a 2022 baby!

Yeah, break has NOT been kind to his sleep schedule here either.

My kid went to bed at 6:45 tonight after trying to fall asleep at 5:30. It's now 12:15am and I hear him walking around upstairs. Holding my breath that I'm not about to have a wired 12 year old on my hands.

Our family tradition is pretty simple. My 12 yo spends the night with my ILs, has every year since he was an infant (except last year, when I had covid and we didn't want to risk spreading it). This is the first year without my FIL, who passed about 2 months ago now, so it was extra important to MIL that they uphold the tradition. Husband and I will stay at home, watch the ball drop on YouTube, and be in bed by 12:05. Welcome to your 40s, I guess.

Went to Lucky AF last night. Service was stellar but the food was super underwhelming and a lot pricier than I'd expected.

Back to work today but I'm working from home today, Thursday and Friday. Just took my car in for an inspection. Fingers crossed the cracked windshield makes it through again this year!

Waiting on the pre-teen to wake up. He sleeps late on Christmas. Always has. I'm ready to get the show on the road.

My mother in law spent the night last night. My father in law passed about 8 weeks ago and we didn't want her to be alone. I'm happy to have her but part of me is ready to have my house to myself. My parents, my brother, and his girlfriend are coming for lunch. I don't really get along with my parents so that's fun.

It's going to be a long day but we'll be fine. If having a warm home and presents under the tree is my biggest issue, I'll be fine.

We ordered a new coffee table from Amazon and it was scheduled to come in tomorrow - so naturally it's going to come in today while it's raining and I'm working in the office instead of tomorrow when I'll be working from home and it'll be sunny.

A headhunter contacted me a few weeks ago about a job doing what I'm already doing but for 12% more money and I entertained their request for an interview because what does it hurt, right? Except they rescheduled the first one and the reschedule was supposed to be for yesterday but I never got a time or a meeting invite. I emailed the headhunter and he hasn't responded. I didn't want the job anyway but it's weirdly annoying.

I made a pecan pie last night. I'll make the turkey tomorrow. Husband is making most everything else, except what my parents and his are bringing. I'm not excited but at least it'll be over in under 48 hours.

I'm living on Powhatan, Chickahominy, and Youghtanund land. I'm going to do some reading up, because I'd never heard of that third one. Thanks for the nudge.

Thanksgiving is my least favorite holiday, partly because it stands between me and Christmas. I only have Thursday off but I don't mind much. Work is pretty quiet this week usually. The worst part is that we're hosting this year and our house is a low level disaster in the best of times (clean but cluttered) and I have a lot to do between now and Thursday morning when I put the turkey in the oven.

I had a terrible weekend and am having a terrible Monday, so I actually needed this thread today.

I'm thankful for my husband and kid, and the little family we've built together. I'm not fond of most of my blood relatives so when things get tough, it's nice to know I have my own family to hold close.
