In education, we reward hard work with more hard work. If you are great with kids and can handle diverse mental health/behavioral needs, you will get more challenging students sent your way. If you are a talented administrator, you will get all the toughest and stressful situations sent your way. In ten years, we won’t have enough educators to staff our public schools unless we make some drastic changes.

Unfortunately as someone who hired teachers in the past, this is a sad reality. Have hired wonderful candidates only to have them call three weeks before school starts and tell me they can’t find housing.

I totally agree. There is no service on Route 30 through Dummerston/Newfane! Still no cell service at my house. Not expecting it pretty much ever.

As I was driving home today, I counted how many houses on my road were vacant. Half are occupied. Half are empty second homes. The non homestead tax rate should be much higher, not lower.
