If you don’t like sleeping with two ear plugs in, then try just one, if the noise wakes you up turn onto your side so the unplugged ear is on your pillow.

Especially if you put the powder on both the inside and the outside of the fabric.

If you pop on the grease-busting dish soap afterwards, and leave it for another 15 minutes before you wash you should get it out.

I would be wary about scrubbing the stain in case you ruin the surface of the fabric. If you have to scrub, try scrubbing on the back first.

I always dry after a shower with my hand towel, then just wrap myself up in my big fluffy bath towel. The big fluffy can easily last one or two weeks. When I was at university the big fluffy managed to last all term until I took it home for mum to wash.

You could try adding in something to soak up the oil. Maybe stuff it with paper towels. If you are desperate you could try bicarbonate of soda, talcum powder or activated charcoal perhaps. But then your next post would be how to get a load of bicarbonate of soda out of your bag

I picked Primo Levi’s ‘The Periodic Table’ for my book group. I think his writing style is so brilliantly gentle. It feels to me like he is holding your hand safe, so that you can bear witness to the horror, but that he won’t let you tip over the edge.

My choice was not popular.
