Yea, like, would you want someone at a multi-billion dollar bank to not have someone looking into financial crimes? They probably had someone already and they recently left or something.

Reply to Having a day off to do nothing is considered bad if you’re depressed but good if you’re not depressed by themetahumancrusader
I'm kind of known around our office for not taking vacation days. I could literally take a month off at this point. My secret is, when I do get a full week off I get depressed and everything in my life starts to crumble (bathing, chores, etc). Having a job with a time to show up and structure to follow is very helpful for my mental health.

Any technology? The matter replicators from Star Trek. Would let us literally do anything.

I find a lot of the time I need to do something, like cut the lawn, I get anxiety in a sense that it feels like I'm being told to do it, that it's expected of me, that it's a responsibility being forced on me, etc, and by doing it once I'll be expected to do it forever! Yea, it's way over thinking it. It's one of those things where I need to "just not think about it" and do it. Training to do that is hard though.

Ah vacation, right.. yea I honestly don't care. I work 8-5, mon-fri, usually on the computer, and I'm fine. If I'm gonna be super honest, having something to do is good for my mental health. When I have time off all things in my life just slip and I get depressed.

"Consistent" isn't the right word. Breaking things down into smaller more manageable steps is great advice though.

Good eye. There is a city in the background of the After shot, so it could be a different spot on the same beach, assuming it's a very long beach. But that also could mean that the other part of the beach is still full of garbage. Probably most likely different locations, and the creator is just trying to send a message.

Reply to comment by ilaissezfaire in Scientists are working on an official 'alien contact protocol' for when ET phones Earth by Gari_305
I've heard many theories that aliens created us, or at least sped up our evolution. I don't really give any of these any credit. I think most people who believe these are not able to grasp how evolution and development of technologies could very easily have happened just fine without any outside interference.
I did hear an idea recently that once our ancestors left the tress and started venturing out that they may have started ingesting psychedelic mushrooms, and the mind altering reactions can help explain how the brain doubled in size in only a 2 million year period.

I wouldn't be too concerned. 90% of the motives that stories give to aliens for attacking Earth really don't add up in the real world. If there was contact it'd probably be more of trying to observe and study us without interfering.

Reply to Spotted in my neighborhood. Be kind to yourself! [image] by ChampagneCity
One of the first things I tell people who are depressed is to stop talking bad about yourself. A lot of people do it as a joke or not too serious, I don't care, stop it! You're not an idiot for making a small mistake. You're not dumb because you forgot your keys. You're smart, you're talented, and you should treat yourself like you deserve.
