Very true. The bill did absolutely nothing to address the root causes and socioeconomic issues.

They had an event at the Chinese embassy not so long ago and I think it was definitely worth it only because that embassy is seemingly never open to the public. Also it’s quite a spacious embassy and so there was plenty of room for food, tea, calligraphy, propaganda, etc.

Yeah, the Tatte cafes are pretty spacious so they can easily accommodate people working there for a bit.

Definitely agree that Christophe is the best for pastries/desserts in that area.

Isn’t that the point? How is it helpful to just let them continue to live like that? Ignoring the problem by not doing anything is just going to make the conditions worsen further and further.

“Unfairly given”? As of now the homeless are being “unfairly given” complete use of public parks, with the privilege to harrass and assault passersby as much as they like. I think most people would be thrilled to have their community park back in exchange, and it’s honestly not a bad solution seeing as it could keep the people together and provide a distribution point for food/supplies. Maybe somewhere further out where there is more space for them and isn’t so cramped. Obviously providing them with housing is the better option but if some people refuse it then it’s better than the exisiting approach.

“The government continues to treat these people as if they aren’t human beings”, indeed.
(I’m saying that allowing people to live like this is treating them in a way that humans shouldn’t be treated. I’m agreeing with the person I replied to)

Busses were free for a time when Covid was first around. I wonder if there were any studies about how that affected service?

Yeah especially because the vast majority of fare jumpers seem to be kids/teens who ride free anyways. I very rarely see adults jumping.

A lot of them are teenagers who ride free anyways (Kids Ride Free Program). They're supposed to tap their card but many of them don't bother with it.

I agree the fare table system is overly complicated. I like the zone idea, but maybe stick with 2-3 zones instead of 5, it looks a little messy.

I think the city should charge more for parking if they want less people to drive. Less people but paying more money each.

I do wish they would run the trains more often on peak weekends. I’m on the red line and had to wait 8 minutes for an already packed train.
