I have nothing against audiobooks but I struggle to follow them. I listen to my favourites each night as I fall asleep. But I’m a physical book reader because I zone out and if I do that while reading it is easier to backtrack.

I studied this book for sixth form too and honestly I was bored shitless. One of my classmates (who was held back a year) kept going on about the green light and whilst I appreciate the value of said green light.. it was not the be all and end all. Ultimately there are better books out there by the same author. Books that have not been done to death by students around the world. While I enjoyed reading the book for the sake of reading a book, I did not enjoy analysing or critiquing it in the style an A Level student need to.

Good luck.

I adored Beloved. It took a number of reads to understand but I loved it. I studied it for A Level English at school. Had I not studied it, chances are I wouldn’t have picked it up of my own volition. But now you bring it up I feel compelled to read it again… despite knowing how horrific aspects of it are. We shall see.

If you have a page goal rather than a book goal this will make the length of book irrelevant. StoryGraph offers this variable as an option for yearly goal setting.
