You don't need a card reader since you can just transfer with Cash app Granted, I don't know about the UK's homeless situation but in the US this has definitely been common since I was homeless about 8 years ago

My friend, you are far out of date. Many homeless people will take digital currency, because it's harder to get robbed when your money is on the cloud.

But you do have to pay taxes for gifts over a certain threshold. In a practical sense it only ever applies to things like cars and very expensive items.

Give money to people if you feel like being generous, regardless of what you think they may or may not do with it.

So why didn't they just build the canal in the area between the Bronx and marble hill?

Yes, in the same sense that electric heating led to the loss of chimney sweeps. Instead of becoming a chimney sweep, that person becomes an HVAC. Even if AI becomes the predominant way of producing content there will always be people who have to make creative decisions.

Reply to ELI5 How is drinking a diet soda different than drinking plain water when it comes to your health? by LucyLegBeard
Sodas in general make you thirstier and hungrier, which can lead to overeating. Diet sodas have artificial sweeteners many of which are linked to a host of medical problems.
Water is water. Our bodies literally evolved to drink it.

Even if you qualify it to say only the desirable land for housing, that land is still a finite resource.

At the a macro level land is a finite resource no matter what. It's a complex subject and our statements are definitely not mutually exclusive.

Housing appreciates in value because there are more people year to year but the earth doesn't make more land year to year

It could be designed in such a way that the weapons are integral. So not like you just get a full Glock 40, but probably ammunition and maybe some components which can be salvaged. Still, an awful idea to make killer robots to use on the populace. It's bad enough that cops rarely live in the neighborhoods they patrol but now they're literally showing up as a faceless machine
