Checkout Stressless. Around half the price of an Eames and more comfortable, especially if you are taller. They come in quite a few different styles, and I’d suggest having him sit in some if you can find a local dealer as the different styles do have a different feel to them all.

For the last few years I’ve been considering one. I went to a party back in May and the owner of the house had one. I asked him about it and he said he bought it in 1994. It was heavily colored where his head and arms touched, but I’m guessing he didn’t put a lot of time into conditioning and cleaning. He told me I had to sit in it and try it out, which I did. It was definitely in great shape as far as the padding and features. When you consider it was 28 years old it was amazing. It was his favorite chair, and he practically lived in it. His wife also had one in a room in part of the house where the party wasn’t happening.

I bought one in June, very happy with it. But I got a style I didn’t expect while shopping online since when I tried them in a store the one I thought I would prefer wasn’t quite as comfortable as the one I ended up getting. I purchased the Wing model.
