The benefits aren't up for debate. The benefit is more resistance to knock detonation from compression. There's literally zero benefit in running a higher octane gas in a car that doesn't need it. It's like buying an oven mitt rated for 1000F for your 400F oven. Sure it'll work but it's not giving you any extra benefits.

Did you try to warranty it out? They probably would've replaced it for free

It looking "shitty" and being 17yo just goes to show how durable the bags are. You can tell OP beat the shit out of this bag over the years. To me that tells me it's a more durable bag than if someone had a 17yo bag that still looked new bc it was just used to carry a laptop to and from the coffee shop. OP mentioned in another comment that this is their main bag for camping too

Did the warranty process a few months ago. They have a 10yr warranty on their bags but the rep never made me cut the bag. They just sent me the gift certificate for the cost. Can't remember if we still have the original stuffed somewhere or we dropped it off at good will (more likely)
Edit: I think they had me send a pic of the tag with the production number on it which would prevent multiple claims

They probably thought it had a laptop in it. Reminds me of that classic post with the girl with her dead dog in a suitcase (to take to the vet for cremation) and when someone asked what was in it, she panicked and said laptops so they took it and ran off with it

Fiance had a dakine bag for about a year and the zipper stitching separated from the bag. It took them about 4 weeks from when I filled the warranty request to them sending me a gift card for the value of the bag. So even if it does have an issue, they cover them well.

Haha yeah I can definitely relate to that last bit. I'll get home and be talking to my fiance about my day or things that I'm working on and go "oh wait what about doing it this way" and set a reminder on my phone to look into it the next day lol

Yep If you aren't in a toxic environment that expects to hire salary workers to get 50-60hrs of work without overtime, then salary kicks ass. I was at work the day before Thanksgiving break and most people took vacation to start early. I saw all my meetings were cancelled for the day so I did a little bit more work that I needed to finish and left at like 2pm. I also more or less can show up anytime between 7-9am and no one cares. As long as I'm completing my work and not falling behind on deadlines, I'm mostly left alone which is nice lol

here is a Lexus CT (a fancy Prius) with almost 800k on the original engine. Of all companies to have high mileage engines, I'd expect it to be a Toyota
