I always recommend the older Japanese-made sewing machines to people looking for an inexpensive starter. They're pretty much bulletproof.

The ones I have are the Kipuka Hulu, and the description of the insole is the same as for the Moloa. So I would assume they have a nice cushion. Not squishy like memory foam, more like soft rubber.

I have a Kenmore that my mom bought new in 1976 because she was flirting with the salesman. She never used it, but I ended up with it several years later and I'm still using it.

Check out Olukai - they have a nicely cushioned insole.

Well, there are used ones on ebay that are pretty cheap, if you want to try them out without spending a lot.

I'm really happy with my Duckfeet Roskildes. They're not recycled leather, but I feel like they will last a long time. They have crepe rubber soles, and are resoleable.
