Brew Moscarello is the best guide I have ever had. I've hired him 3 times over the past several years. He's an amazing teacher, knows his stuff better than anyone I've ever met and is just a pleasant, laid back dude. May-June would be a good time to target the Battenkill and nearby tributaries.

Ludlow has beautiful lakes, great hikes, shopping nearby (Woodstock), the VIN (also in Woodstock).

Parking at Alewife is cheap and then you are right at the T and don't need to deal with the commuter rail. Obviously check about overnight parking though.
