LL Bean Wicked Good slippers are BIFL unfortunately they don't make them in 16. Mine are going strong 15 years later and I wear them daily in the winter. The sheepskin on the bottom is worn out but they are still comfy, warm and no failures.

One of the few brands made in the US with US steel. No having to worry about rust in the dishwasher or lead in the steel. The flatware is BIFL. Even their econo-line is fantastic. Not cheap but if you wait for a sale a full set for six people can be found for around fifty bucks.

IMO get an under sink filter. I suggest either the Filtrete 3US-MAX-S01 or an Aquasana AQ-MF-1 (buy quality fittings as the kit ships with subpar ones). They essentially filter the cold water side of the faucet and remove most of the funky taste of most public water. If you are on well water, consider something more substantial but both of these will remove the nasty stuff such as lead and are relatively higher flow with affordable and simple filter changes.

Easy to install and will last years with regular filter changes every six months or so. I put our last one in twelve years ago and still going strong. The Aquasana is a better overall filter but frankly the Filtrete on public water gets the job done just as well for half the price.

Chaco Z/1 will easily go longer than pretty much any other sandal when abused. I wear them fishing, kayaking, beach, hiking, etc in the Florida outdoors year round. They excel pretty much everywhere and will still be going strong long after the tread is completely worn down. I even managed to drive a nail half way through one that would have easily gone through any typical shoe or sandal.

There only con as far as I am concerned is they are comparatively heavy .
