I have a dear friend who moved from Phoenix to Tampa. I am well aware of rhe Tampan and Phoenician markets. The increases are shocking. More shocking in rhe sunnelt than DC. So you’re right that the sun belt has seen a sharper increase in rent versus the DC area. However, DC is still more expensive trust and believe.

Like Wale said “Come to DC and I’ll make you a believer.”

I think I found my current basement apartment on Craigslist or Facebook. I forget which. But it wasn’t through a traditional realtor site like realtor or Zillow. It might’ve been through. Hot pads. They’re starting to post rooms for rent. The OP needs a basement apartment and those are often listed alongside rooms for rent. I’ve also rented rooms in basements that were apartment like and I shared the kitchen with the family upstairs or I shared the entrance. I think alternatives to rooms are best. I’ve doing it off and on for a decade. I have my own living space with separate entrance. All utilities included. I haven’t paid a utility bill in 14 years.

I don’t pay market rate for an apartment which can be $1800 to $2100 in this neighborhood. But it’s not as nice as a hookup’s new $1950 hi rise apartment nearby. Another apartment charging the same rent doesn’t have an in unit washer dryer. Laundromats and utility bills are for the birds.

What? You could’ve gotten yourself killed for some $9.99 item that isn’t even yours???? Things can be replaced. People can’t.

Glad you’re okay. Hope your poor confused coworkers you abandoned on the zoom call weren’t too confused.

But ummm… don’t risk your life for cheap Amazon products that aren’t even yours.

It’s a joke. This person has an ebt card they Don’t need. So they can afford ri splurge. Time for steak and lobster from the GOOD grocery store.

It is a joke. The card should be returned not used for a shopping spree. Obviously. Don’t mention this when you’re in line at Harris Teeter. Meet me in the alley behind the store. I ordered an Uber to load up rhthe vittles.

OK. Call now. It’s not that serious. Arlington county would be very fortunate to have me, but that’s not really my jam. However, I have thought about local politics. Never say never. But the “thank God is so unnecessary.”

I said what I said. I think some of these studies are just decoys and many are a waste of money at least from my perspective. And you’re only saying this because you don’t want the pedestrian bridge for whatever reason.

I know for a fact that people walk to the airport. Not everyone, not a lot but I’ve seen people walking to the airport. I don’t know? Yes I do. Where else they walking to? DCA is isolated. There is no where else those people would be walking to. I saw these folks on airport grounds. not at Pentagon City mall. Where else they walking to?

People do walk to the airport and the options available now are not always safe. It’s a narrow rickety sidewalk.

Pedestrian bridge would be good. If a study is part of protocol then so be it. However, I continue to stand behind this. I think this is great.

The study seems like wasteful. This a good idea. I don’t believe a study is needed. You don’t need a study for everything. Arlington in particular sure does a lot of studies. I think it’s a thinly veiled excuse to not pursue a public works project. Keeping pedestrians safe is a good idea. I would prefer there were not a study. You feel differently. That’s okay. I’m drawing my line in the sand. You can draw yours. Drawing pretty things can be fun.

If I said that I saw it then I saw it, if I said that it happened then it happened, because I’m not a liar.

I have witnessed people walking to the airport with bags in tow. I have walked to the airport on more than one occasion. People are already walking to the airport this pedestrian bridge gives them a safer option.

Additionally, it provides another exit for the Mount Vernon trail which is a hard trail to get off. Once you walk two miles you can’t get off and catch the nearest Uber. So an additional exit for the mount Vernon is nice.

Another interesting possibility is connecting the bridge with VRE. It would be nice if VRE could be a full service statewide rail. Or at the very least more options between DC and Richmond.

My opinion is not meaningless. This is a public forum. I’m allowed to state my opinion. I live in Arlington. And I just told you I have walked to the airport. It wasn’t fun. And it looks like they may want to connect the VRE to the pedestrian bridge. That’d be useful.

Oh and if my opinion is meaningless then yours is too. You still should be able to state that opinion.

To me that’s house poor. I would rather have a less glamorous address with the 86 inch tv and nice furniture than the well to do address and no furniture.

That’s my life now. I could afford a more expensive nicer place but then I’m spending all my income on housing. That’s just not how I want to live. No one should have to live like that but many in this super pricy county do just that.

I could probably afford $2000 a month but I ain’t paying that. My address isn’t fancy and my basement is shabby chic at best. I like north Arlington but it ain’t the be all end all. South Arlington is a nice alternative. That’s all.

My evidence is anecdotal. I have walked to the air port before to rent a car. I have wanted to walk to the airport when I worked in crystal city. I’ve never taken a business trip in my life. If I’m flying chances are it’s to go see family. I always work rhe same day before hoping on a ✈️

Why are you counting? There are pedestrians in Arlington. Just because you drive everywhere doesn’t mean everyone else does. You see people walking to the airport all the time .

What’s wrong with you? Why are you against a project rhat helps people? This is a great idea. Just because you don’t want to use it doesn’t mean everyone thjnsn the same. Under the right circumstances I would use it.
