I love renting.
Fuck spending every Saturday at home depot or maintaining a whole ass garage full of tools for chores I didn't want to do in the first place.

I like cd ladders too, but I'm staying short-term until there is a fed meeting where the rate either doesn't change or goes down.

The down payment doesn't get credited to your loan because it was never part of the loan. You only borrow the part you don't pay up front for.
For example let's say a car costs $10,000 and you put $2,000 down.
Your loan will be for $8,000. The down payment goes directly to the purchase price it's never part of the financing.

The rates have been trash for pretty much the last decade and a half.
These conversations are 100% coming back now that the rates are more attractive.

There's totally cons. Yeah, I'm making somebody else wealthy but if he has to deal with all the bullshit I'm cool with that.
The flexibility and convenience are critical for me.
