I worked at the Rickel on 17 north in the ‘70s and it was my job to tie paneling onto the roofs of cars. No one else knew knots.
One customer bought 20 fifty pound bags of Sakrete concrete mix and tried loading it into his Gremlin.

Reply to Growing up in Morris county I always joked about the “telephone pole park” by lilacmacchiato
I remember driving on Washington Ave in Newark in the ‘70s where there was a Bell Telephone lot filled with telephone poles for training purposes, and seeing the new workers on top tossing basketballs back and forth.

My great granddaughter will soon be finishing up her first year of public school in a Bergen County school district that has zero tolerance for bad behavior. Multi language monthly notices are sent home and emailed detailing the district’s strict policy, procedures and penalties. My eldest child is a high school principal and his district has expelled repeat student offenders. The evidence has been cell phone videos taken by other students. Student cell phone videos have also been used as evidence to suspend and to start the lengthy teacher termination process.

Me as well. I took a couple extra, and another customer giggled and said, “You must have cats too!”

Reply to Crosswalk Laws by manawydan-fab-llyr
I walk 3X every day and was nearly run down in a quiet cross walk a few weeks ago by a guy that suddenly pulled away from the curb in a black SUV to turn right but only looked left as he blew the stop sign. I was already in the crosswalk to his right. How he stopped without hitting me I’ll never know. He got out to apologize. He was a cop in a ‘ghost’ car.
Two weeks later, while out walking at 5:45 AM on a Sunday morning I crossed the street to avoid someone walking a familiar large unruly dog. A cop stopped me about 150 later chastising me for not crossing at the corner. I told him that I needed to avoid the dog. He continued his lecture, and I decided to walk away.
He followed, stopped me again, demanded to see ID and his backup arrived. I told all 3 cops to fuck off and kept walking. I’ve never had any use for cops, several were on the take in my family’s old ‘business’ and IMO now at 70 years of age ACAB.
