The Boston Globes Rhode Map email said:

“New mayor, new PVDFest.

Providence Mayor Brett Smiley plans to announce later today that the city's annual arts and music festival will be held in September rather than June, which is when former mayor Jorge Elorza preferred to hold the three-day event.

This year's PVDFest will be scheduled for Sept. 8 through 10, essentially closing out summer in Providence rather than opening it. The new dates also ensure that thousands of college students will be able to attend the event because it will be held during the school year.

Elorza rebranded the former Providence Sound Session into PVDFest during his time as mayor, pouring resources into the downtown festival to make it a signature event in the city each year. It has attracted nearly 600,000 attendees and 4,600 artists since its debut in 2015 (it was interrupted by the pandemic).

The event will be planned by Joe Wilson Jr., a veteran actor who runs the city's Office of Art, Culture and Tourism.”

I had all sorts of stuff missing when I was there. I even had two driver’s licenses sent by the dmv missing.

Bruh! All parades are different i.e. the NY tank giving day parade is famous for the baloons, the rose bowl parade is famous for having all the floats made of flowers, Mardi Gras parades are famous for the second line and Indians etc. You can’t really know about the content and character of parades unless they’re famously documented or you’ve been. For all I know any local St. paddy’s day parade is just some local cub scouts walking downtown he street. Boring. The only one I’m even familiar with hear about is the one in southie because of controversies

I didn’t say I didn’t know of parades I said I didn’t know anything about the parades. There’s a difference. For instance you could be aware it an animal called a ferret but knowing that females will die if they don’t mate after going i to heat would be knowing something about them.

For example, yes I’ve been hearing about sports teams taking duck boat boats around Boston for wins since 2004 but if you were to ask ask me I I’ll tell you I don’t know anything about them as I never took my vacation time off of work to go (nor would I).

Is the Newport parade a big deal? I don’t know anything about parades in New England in general; I don’t think I’ve been to a single one in RI or MA and I’ve been in the area for over 20 years now
