All good spots, but nowhere close to the finest on the East Coast - in my opinion. There's really only one guy in the city who I would classify as world class, and he doesn't even have his own bar in the city.

Yeah, it was also the only real tiki bar in the Philly area. The cocktail scene in Philly is pretty rough considering the size of the city.

Maybe not the comparison you think it is.

The wrong way for you to start your argument was 'HAHA!'
I'm going to assume everything after that is either a lie or hyperbole. Violence and bullying has gone up in our school district and in every district surrounding ours. Children have been hospitalized. A football game was cancelled due to a shooting threat.
Sure, it's all anecdotal - but that's the only thing I have going for me. I could care less about in-person name calling. Social media is creating a dangerous environment for children.

In what way is it better overall? Give me one meaningful metric where kids today are safer today than they were 20 years ago.

Reply to Street Parkers who brought beautiful new cars… are you happy with you purchase? by aranhalaranja
Buying new is for suckers if you live in the city. It's going to get beat up, so just buy used.

Wouldn't it be reasonable to assume that a large portion of cash donations to a charity are made by people who can afford to do it?

Reply to Please explain the weed smell. On the Turnpike driving 70mph. No cars around. Huge weed plume somehow enters my car with the windows closed. Where is it coming from ? How much are they smoking for smell to linger ? by TextEfficient
It's from one of the grow warehouses or dispensaries. In South Jersey you can smell it driving up 42 towards 295 (Curaleaf location) if the wind is right. Smells like straight bud - not smoked weed, but actual weed.

Reply to comment by abortionleftovers in Big Charlie’s Saloon, the Kansas City Chiefs bar in South Philly, cancels its Super Bowl watch party by CookedDenimRawPizza
My guess is they got inundated with reservations and then PD told them to maybe keep it quiet in case the Eagles lose. I know it's a dive, but I wouldn't want to be a Chiefs bar if we somehow lose this one.

The 2008 World Series celebrations were definitely more insane than the 2018 Super Bowl celebrations. I can't wait for that chaos again.

Reply to Jersey suburb recommendations? by you_stand_corrected
It's not much less competitive, if at all, on the Jersey side. I would never rent an apartment in the suburbs - you're basically trading in all the good parts of the city without getting any of the real benefits of the burbs. We made the move years ago to Collingswood because we wanted space and peace & quiet without sacrificing proximity to our favorite spots in the city.
If you do decide it's what you want, stick with Collingswood, Haddon Township, or Haddonfield. There's really not a point in any of those towns where you're not walkable to a PATCO station. Although, word to the wise, you will start driving even the short 1 mile to the PATCO after a few months of living in the burbs.
1 bedrooms in the newest buildings around here are going for around $2000. Row homes in Collingswood go for anywhere from $2000-$2700.
