I have had mine for about five years now. It has been totally fine. No noise that is notable to me. But I am also not expecting perfection out of a very reasonably priced frame. The only thing I didn't like was that it was so low to the ground. A set of risers took care of that quite well for me.

Look into hunting backpacks not hiking packs.. Especially those meant to haul game meat. Some of them are rated or tested with over 200 lbs. They ain't gonna be cheap though.

Leatherman Supertool. Bought in 1998 as a supplement for my motorcycles tool kit when I did a yearlong US roadtrip.
Rubbermaid Action Packer. Bought in 1994 and still in use. The handles/ closures have taken some serious UV damage but still function. The other three I have were bought sometime in the early 2000"s and still going strong.
