The Lakota/Dakota people were called "Nadowessiwag," which became Nadouessioux in French, then Sioux in English. It means "little snake." by marmorset

A lot of Sci Fi authors predicted the creation of the internet or smth comparable to it, tbf. I imagine it wasn’t an uncommon trope at the time
