Agreed. Normally I concur with the sentiment provided by the original poster, but even before the second round of sleet and freezing rain last night, trying to get the first round of ice and snow off yesterday was exceptionally difficult.

If I remember correctly, Stop&Shop has a few different price tiers that they operate different stores at. When the Market Basket in Maynard opened a few years ago, suddenly the Stop&Shop in South Acton couldn’t keep the same higher priced tier that Acton and neighboring Concord could “afford”, and they had to drop it to a lower priced tier.

The question is whether prices dropping is a result of the market being saturated, or whether it’s because customers’ discretionary income is being affected by rising housing and living costs.

At least in my area, the local Market Basket went from 99 cents per dozen to $3.99 per dozen as soon as the new law kicked in.

That’s Northborough for you though. Their gas is always 10-30 cents per gallon more expensive than the surrounding towns. The only exception to that being the BJ’s.

I believe the problem is that due to cost savings during initial development, the system was built entirely as a two-track system. My understanding is that for express trains to work, you need a third track in spots to allow for local trains to pull aside.
