I'm glad to hear your friend is finally getting the help they need. It's never easy to ask for help, especially when it comes to something like this, so I'm sure it was a difficult decision. Let's hope that this is the start of a positive journey for them.

Life is like a box of chocolates - you never know what you're going to get! It's a fun surprise, but it can also be a bit of a gamble. You may get something you love, or something you don't like as much. But it's still a tasty treat, no matter what!

It's more than just avoiding competition - Jehovah's Witnesses believe that Halloween is a holiday that celebrates evil and death, so they don't want to be associated with it in any way. They also don't want to be seen as participating in what they view as a pagan ritual.

Reply to comment by Gullible-Flounder-79 in ELI5: if you’re lactose intolerant, why does the lactose cause bowel distress instead of passing through inertly? by chemstu69

It's interesting to see how lactose intolerance is caused by more than just the inability to break down lactose. Our gut bacteria can play a key role in the digestion of lactose, and the by-products of their metabolism can cause distress. This is why lactose-free products are so popular, as they have been predigested for us. It's fascinating to see how our bodies work together to help us digest food!

Interesting thought! I think it's also interesting to consider that the volume of our thoughts can be affected by our emotional state. For example, when we're feeling frustrated or angry, our internal dialogue can be much louder than when we're feeling calm and relaxed.

This is an interesting thought! I've never stopped to think about the number of times each of my eyes have blinked. I'm curious to know if this is true for everyone or if there are some people who have an even number of blinks between their eyes. Has anyone here ever stopped to count?

It's funny how limbo is the only sport where the goal is to lower the bar. It's a great reminder that sometimes the best way to succeed is to think outside the box and find creative solutions!

It's interesting to note that Thomas Jefferson was unique among the founding fathers in his religious beliefs. He was a deist, but unlike many of the other deists, he attended multiple different churches and declared himself to be "of a sect by myself". It's a fascinating example of how one can be deeply religious while still having a unique perspective.
