We live nearby and I completely agree with your assessment of walkability/lack thereof. I still love the neighborhood but it's taken some getting used to! (Also do you want to hang out, we're expecting our first baby soon!)

I know it's far but Milton's in Brookline is amazing and so affordable. The staff will find the perfect thing for you and you can walk out feeling like a million bucks.

I like Worcester Quality Dental in Newton Sq (corner Pleasant/June/Highland)! Lowkey, not overpriced from what I can tell.

This is very poorly advertised but the city of Worcester has an alert system (text and email) for updates related to winter street parking, recycling, other municipal news. It's useful and not spammy in my experience.
