There are two kinds of news that remain constant. The bad news is that humans only have the value we assign to ourselves. The good news is that humans have all the value we assign to ourselves.

Back to basics. Technology feeds itself. Technology finds more resources to feed itself. The result is a future weirder than we can think.

Maybe that is a step too far as a descriptor.

Hate to say it but people are by and large computer illiterate. They don't know to what extent computers are used and why.

People do often use it like that. My comment was more to everyone else to think about the definitions they use.

If the world's future hangs on a balance whether People's Republic invades the Chip Fab Island or not I assume they are useful for something.

AGI can also be ASI. The definition of AGI doesn't read "not ASI by the way".

Transformers are really close to something like a general learner. If people had that in their meme arsenal they might use it instead of general intelligence.
The guy bringing up Eliza, which is only a weird knowledge flex, should make his own subreddit for his strange fixation.

>Moore's Law is actually very unusual in that almost no other technologies follow an exponential trend like that, especially not for as long as Moore's Law has held.
Not special to transistors, mechanical computers, relays and vacuum tubes exhibited these trends as well, all slightly accelerating from previous one.
To call the ability to process information a technology is I think slightly disrespectful as it underlays all applications of technology, it's the primus motor of everything.
