Honestly it depends on what model. Both Dell and Lenovo offer both consumer level and professional level gear. Our company switched us to consumer level Lenovo and that was also quite terrible.
Don't expect too much from any cheap laptops, even some of the expensive ones are hit and miss.
What I see here is another Data center play, which is fine, they bought EMC for a reason, this sells more of their server hardware.

As fun as it is to drink the Hatorade that's hardly the issue. PC sales are flat/declining and AMD now offers largely equivalent cards
