True Blood. By the time the witches show up, I was like, "yeah I'm out."

Star Trek: TNG's final season 7 was bonkers as well. There are some amazing episodes in there and an incredible series finale, but some of the stuff in between was truly off the rails where you can tell the writers had just run out of ideas.

Ah, I loved this show. I even own it on DVD. Loved the faux-Shakespearean dialogue. Most of the cast were phenomenal, although the weakest element was David and the Princess' romance storyline. Way too network trope-y. A show like Kings would have been way better received now than on NBC circa 2009. Succession meets Game of Thrones meets the Old Testament? Come on!

I think the various Star Treks do try to keep some sense of recurring extras. Voyager did this as much as they could due to the premise of the show. TNG tended to stick to a handful of day players for the helm position and various other background crew. DS9 had Morn. Discovery's bridge crew has more or less stayed the same since the beginning, existing in a weird state somewhere between day player and actual cast.

It's also not a fixed crew, other than Voyager and Discovery because of their unique circumstances. Realistically, most of the crew would only serve a few years at most at a single post before being transferred and/or promoted somewhere else.

I can see it getting nominated for various technical Emmys, but I can't realistically see it getting anything in the major categories. HBO is just too strong. They have Succession, The Last of Us, The White Lotus and House of the Dragon all in contention for the next Emmys.

It's Amazon's most watched show ever, but that's not exactly a high bar and the network has been cagey as to its actual numbers. They've spent far too much money into it to cancel it. Unless someone on the inside leaks, we'll likely never know.

I can still remember watching Atonement in a theatre in 2007 and having that feeling of a sledgehammer hitting my stomach when the twist is revealed. It's just utterly devastating.
