I've always been happy with NJM. I've had a few auto claims over the years and they were always easy to work with. Just a few weeks ago added then deleted a car and did part of it online, but also needed a rep a couple of times and always easy to get through. They insure my home, cars, camper, and umbrella.

At least the officers are getting a nice cut of the fee charged to whoever is asking for the service. We need EMT coverage for a 2 day event that I’m a part of and we were quoted $5k for the weekend. I bet those EMTs are still only getting $20-30 an hour if that. We did end up getting a better rate in the end.

There is no difference. Some loans could have a penalty for early repayment, but I've really only seen that to prevent immediate repayment for when there is an incentive to finance a car purchase.

As a side note and coming from a financial planner/boat owner, financing a boat in general is not a good idea. Even a new boat tends to be a cash drain, and it only gets worse as you get several years into the life of a boat. But if you are a previous boat owner, you probably know what to expect.

Join the Porsche Club of America and you will be linked with the local association. I’ve been to the New England region track events and they do a great job. Very civilized group and great drivers education.

Personally if my spouse's insurance was that good, I wouldn't bother enrolling in another policy as back-up. I would just be nervous that it would be an administrative nightmare considering the two companies may want to have some coordination of benefits. I've never been in that situation, so I'm just guessing, but would be interested to see other people's thoughts.

I don't have any advice to offer, but it does remind me of about 25 years ago my now wife drove down to Manasquan and grabbed a beer while unpacking her car and got snagged on the sidewalk between the house and the car with an open container. Must be a great moneymaker for them.

I wonder if fighting it now might be a good move if the person that wrote the ticket was one of those temporary cops that now wouldn't be around to show up in court.
