From all you've mentioned the Xbox would he the best choice for him. If you're able to I'd recommend going with the Series X over the S, it's a bit more but will last longer and run games considerably better as time goes on.

Honestly, I would be very surprised if we see a new console from with Sony or Microsoft. Save the R&D push Game Pass/PS+ and open it up as an application available on everything.

You're not wrong, eventually Sony will follow suit with Microsoft and most likely just have a subscription service for games. Logically it makes more sense making your titles available on all platforms and with xcloud growing gaming just from your TV will be an option just a few years from now.

So I voted PS5 only because I feel if you have a decent gaming PC there is no need for the Xbox Series consoles. If we take the PC out of the equation the Xbox Series paired with Game Pass is the best route.

Really just a personal choice honestly and I hope you don't feel wrong or bad about enjoying the Switch more.

For me I rarely use my Switch, even more so after getting a Steam Deck. Hopefully Pokémon and Bayonetta get me back interested in the Switch.

I primarily game on my PC and with Game Pass its made my Series X kinda set to the way side.

The PS5 is only used for the 1st party exclusives so maybe a handful of times a year :S

Console wise if you can afford it, I'd recommend going with the Series X over the S at this point. Recent articles come out about devs asking Microsoft to move away from the Series S due to hardware limitations. I'd expect to see a new more powerful Series console in a couple years and them phasing out the S for newer games or making it more a Xcloud console, leaving the Series X and whatever the new one will be.

Headset wise I've loved my Steelseries Arctis 5s, use it in my consoles and PC super comfy, lightweight and has great sound quality.
