I've tried one of the wood / metal pole Amazon ones. It was well made, cheap. Not a great design though for earphones that naturally rest with pads touching

Thanks. Yeah I'm not sure if what I want exists. The stand, at least for a he-4xx + pads, would need to have more less radius/more lateral width to force the earpads apart a bit. Not sure on XS yet, they arrive later this week

Reply to Does frequency response over 20 kHz matter if the upper hearing limit of the average adult human is 15–17 kHz? by sunjay140
The only way I can see those frequencies mattering is if those frequencies being produced alters the ones we can hear in a positive way somehow

I always thought it was the membrane vibrating too long /shrug

Yeah that is where I was going with it at first but I guess the first part shows the initial response too. Interesting. I would say this implies to show how fast/responsive a speaker is. I wager a planar magnetic would have a much tighter graph than an hd-600 as an example. Something that sounds "muddy" would have a much longer timeframe shown right ?

This measures how fast a membrane moves in response to a signal, right?

Will do. I can't help but think it will be significantly better.

Nice! Had you not heard planars before at all?
As soon as I heard my he-4xx, without EQ mind!, I loved them. I can't wait for my edition-XS to show up.
There is also a Geshelli J2(akm)/E2 coming, so I will have to be disciplined and try them on existing DAC/amp first (Xonar essence STX).

Probably has something to do with overall sales numbers due to barriers of entry.
