Angelina's Pizza in Teele Square in Somerville may have the best subs in town.

Bob's Italian Market in Medford is also awesome - massive sandwiches though.

If a burger is a sandwich, Tasty Burger is an incredible burger for it's price.

Al's on State Street is good not great. The best value is how quickly they turn a sandwich out.

FoodDy's in Teele Square has massive sandwiches and portions for the price. Incredible fried chicken, jerk chicken, etc sandos.

Tanjore used to be in Harvard Square and moved down Mass Ave into the old People's republik bar (about halfway between Harvard and Central).

When I worked in Harvard Sq it was my go to spot. So so good.

One way to think of it is like this - every multi unit building in the area is either a collection of condos or a multifamily single entity. The collection of condos each have their own deeds and are taxed individually. The multifamily only has one deed and one tax base.

Also, the same building sold as condos is much more expensive than the exact same building as multifamily. For example, a multifamily on my street sold for 1.2m and was renovated a bit and is now being sold as condos. One condo is going for 1.4m and another for 1.6m. no one would pay 3m for the whole building, but plenty of people will get into a 1.4m condo.

The coop approach allows people, who would otherwise not be able to purchase the individual condos, go in together to buy the building as a multifamily but as otherwise unrelated people. The overall price of the building is lower than if they were sold as individual condos and the tax base is lower.

Who knows! That's the whole point. You may even be wrong about why traffic was stopped in the first place. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter.

Cars inherently create traffic. If you don't want to have to worry about traffic -- ever -- ride a bike. If you insist on driving a car, don't complain about congestion! It's like going sailing and complaining that you're getting splashed!

And, before the "oh, but I need a car because of XYZ reason" -- great, I think you should drive then! But, the overwhelming majority of people driving cars on city roads are doing so out of "convenience" (which, to me, is more just laziness becasue it's not convenient being traffic and causing congestion all day!). So, let's do everything we can to get people who use cars-of-convenince off the roads on on public transit, on bikes, or on foot -- it's better for everyone.

Then drive and deal with the chaos! Or have your loved ride a bike with you - even more fun.

I'm not saying to ban cars. But don't go around complaining because the worst transportation option has the expected effect on congestion. If you want to drive, drive! But don't go around complaining that it's congested with traffic. You are traffic!

In the US.

Fair enough. Having ridden through it pretty regularly for the last ten years, it at least feels like it's getting A LOT better and that the end result of all this work will be a massive improvement. Stay safe out there!

The seaport has a ton of great casual food options - Aceituna is great gyros! So is Zo's near Al's.

My wife and everyone we know who worked with her had incredible care and support from Dr. Beth Hardiman. Her practice is located Mt. Auburn hospital and she delivers 95%+ of her patients. Her whole team is great (love nurse Josephina!).

Every time I've been to foundry with kids, I've felt like a massive inconvenience to the staff. Not because we're being inconvenient - but the staff were of an attitude that kids should be there.

Hello! Bicycle Belle in Somerville near Porter Square (right on Cambridge city line at Oxford/Beacon Street) is the Boston Metro Regions primary cargo bike retailer.

They are a woman owned shop, and have everything you need for car-replacement bike riding. Also everything you need for the whole family on bikes (kids helmets, bikes etc.). They do not carry anything outside of cargo/city transportation style bikes. No maintain bikes, roadies, etc.

The people who work there are great. They have inventory. You could go today and walk about with a wagon bike. Or, order direct.

You are not legally entitled to sick time after ending employment. Earned vacation time must be paid out.

Hell yeah. Walking. Biking. And all forms of public transit are all on the same team. They all have the same interests in terms of infrastructure improvement. And everyone gains when any one of them is focused on. It's just cars vs everyone out here.

It's absolutely realistic to manage all routine needs within a 10mile radius for most people by bike. I'm just an average person and I do so! Nothing special - honestly, like the post, I didn't realize it was realistic until I started doing it because of the oppressive cult of car culture. But, it's absolutely doable for nearly everyone.

In the context of this post, we're talking about the relative benefits of walking vs driving. Camberville is walkable with enough time. And bike able every time, right on time, almost always in less time than driving.

Riding a bike is almost always faster than driving in Cambridge.
