Mario 64 was never multiplayer.

There is a multiplayer mod on Windows via emulation but interaction between players is a bit wonky.

For example, all the NPC's are produced client-side so everyone's enemies wander to different spots.

It's mostly just to play through the game with friends and collect different stars at the same time

S is fine. X is preferable but out of many people's budgets. Unless he has a nice 4K TV he ain't misisng out very much anyhow.

Point is he'll be thrilled but don't be offended if he ever swaps it for an X :P

The Switch is nice because it opens up a lot of new games and a new experience. Switch has a lot of fun exclusives and it's portable.

But... hes complaining about his current Xbox experience (where his friends play) so he probably wants a better Xbox experience rather than an entirely new experience. Plus, the Switch isn't a powerhouse.

Xbox 110% and I'd go as far as saying that if you ultimately decided on the Switch, it'd be better to spoil the surprise and ask what he'd want before getting it. That's how confident I am the Xbox is a better option for him.

Yea, if it causes cancer. As concerned as the next person about microplastics but just because the science would be reactive rather than proactive doesn't automatically mean it's cancerous.

Psychedelic rock, garage rock, jazz/jazzy rock, hard rock, thrash metal, 60s-ish pop rock: King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. 100% top of my list to check out, they do so many different things well.

Sour Soul by Ghostface Killah and BADBADNOTGOOD is a great rap album that doesn't get enough love.

Definitely not underground but Black Star by Mos Def and Talib Kweli is top tier.

Joey Bada$$' first mixtape 1999 is worth a listen

I've been on a Neil Young kick recently. Southern Man has an interesting history and that got me digging more into his back catalogue. I'd start with his greatest hits honestly.

110 is a bit pricey. If its a slim and not a super slim and you want it, sure! Just so you know, I have my doubts the shop will have done much if any work on it.

Please please mod it. Most people are running their system with the stock thermal paste but the only way to check temps and control fan speed is to mod it. There's good step by step guides on how to mod but it will likely take a day of reading before you're comfortable with it.

If it has the original drive be prepared to replace it. In fact, if this is gonna see heavy-ish use, I'd swap the HDD day one and blow out the dust. Consider repasting if comfortable.

If you are 100% gonna mod it, it is worth checking the slim's serial number. While a vast majority of slims can run custom firmware (as opposed to HEN which superslims have), my recollection is some late slims cannot run CFE and can only do HEN.

It is not considerably more powerful lol. The Xbox is absolutely more conventionally powerful but the difference isn't particularly large. Not enough for it to really factor into which console you choose. And this is someone who would own a Series X if he didn't already have a PC.

Furthermore, basically every sales estimate I've seen has the PS5 moderately ahead of the X/S.

For example: https://www.vgchartz.com/article/454086/ps5-vs-xbox-series-xs-sales-comparison-may-2022/

I think the best part is that it completely undermines his own argument. People ditching Xbox development for PS5 because of the Series S requirement would qualify as hindering development on the platform.

Of course, using his hyper-literal narrow-definitions I imagine his response would be that since they decided to develop for PS5 instead, there is no Xbox development occuring and therefore nothing is being hindered.

Keep in mind this is coming from someone who thinks the Series S complaints are overblown. Not ideal for sure but so far, most of the complaints seem to be devs using it as a shield to excuse poorly optimized games.

You are technically correct, Microsoft doesn't have a gun to their heads so they aren't forcing the devs. But come on, can't you see how silly it is to get caught up in those semantics?

The conversation is clearly about Microsoft forcing any XSX release to work on the XSS. If you want to take "forcing" that literally it's your perogative but really besides the point.

>they can just develop for PS5 instead can’t they?

Wouldn't people abandoning Xbox development in favour of the PS5 because of the Series S requirement just illustrate how the platform is being hindered by it?

Bro just stop. This dude unironically pulled the "Microsoft isn't forcing you to do anything, you can just develop for PS5!" card.

Like way to be technically correct in a completely irrelevant way.

Even as a Meta hater, the Facebook account is handy. My side hustle is refurbing retro gaming gear and FB has become so much of a local hub that everything else pales in comparison. I'm not exaggerating, the traffic differences between FB and any other platform are staggering.

I deleted my original "real" FB account years ago but made a new one for my side business with one picture and maxed privacy settings. I mean Meta already has ad profiles for non-users so it's a pretty minimal sacrifice in my book.

Why did I just write two paragraphs about making a FaceBook account? Cause on Monday I'm picking up 2 free sheets of plywood and some 2x4s and on Wednesday someone is buying a GameCube I couldn't sell on eBay.

I have seen many people with PS5's and XSX/S's looking to sell or trade while browsing for deals. Every single person interested outside of r/hardwareswap was on Facebook. I was looking for PC parts so the copious trade posts stood out. That being said, I imagine some of the trade volume has died down now that prices have somewhat normalized.

Unless it was advertised as being in a certain condition, stuff like that it's pretty much accepted stuff is sold as-is

You say it's scratched but also say the back ports are functional. Is the front port not working? What do you mean by scratch?
