Honestly I’d recommend finding a great show in Boston and/or Prov you both wanna see and going out there one night. It’s rare that anything comes through Worcester that’s solid. I checked the Palladium’s schedule and there isn’t anything notable besides Morbid Angel (death metal)
Outside of music specifically, I’d say taking her to Free Play and Ralph’s would be a good time. Free Play because it’s kinda impossible to not have fun there, and Ralph’s because it has more character than literally any bar in New England
Post-covid Worcester is kinda weird honestly. Most small communities that were doing cool shit kinda dried up. On weekends I used to be able to find a cool warehouse show with actual sick bands, go to parties at practice spaces, make weird films and art with people in those communities. Now that culture hardly exists, and the art that ends up coming out is much less inspired because of it

The worst parts of Worcester are nowhere close to the worst parts of anywhere in a CA city. You’ll laugh when you see what people call “ghetto” here. Worcester is extremely safe
But yeah, transportation does suck and it gets very cold. Uber will probably be your friend

Coming from a family of Worcester cops, I 100% believe this. My grandfather just passed away last week, I know for a fact him and his cop buddies would beat on people for fun back in the 70s. Not defending present day cops, but back then it was so bad. The more accountability and monitoring for people in power the better

I love me some Nick’s (or Vincent’s). Ralph’s is really the only bar I go to nowadays though. There isn’t much else in Worcester that has a cool vibe. We’re overdue for a cool mid sized venue

Awesome bar, terrible location. Pretty much sums it up
It’s too bad since the sound is pretty solid. If they just packed up and put it in a different location it would be a popular spot for local shows IMO

Thank you. The Fix is fucking terrible and it blows my mind that people go there more than once. There are so many better places in Central MA

If you’re interested in Comics/Records That’s Entertainment is the only option. It’s a fantastic shop. BT’s Smokehouse is a five minute walk from there and has some great BBQ as well.
If you’re looking to grab a beer before the show, I’d honestly recommend going over to Ralph’s Diner. They also cook burgers on the grill there. It’s a metalhead’s utopia, so much character and you’ll appreciate it.
If you’re looking for walking distance from the Palladium itself your options are limited. Armsby Abbey is a craft beer centric restaurant closeby if you’re into that sort of thing.

There literally isn’t a punk scene anymore though. It’s dead, and this is a valid question
Also you’re are vastly overestimating how much cops actually give a fuck about things that aren’t shoved onto their desk
I get the “fuck the police” thing but this is just stupid IMO
