I rent a 2 bedroom apartment in the Burlington area for myself and my 2 kids. I don't have a bedroom, which allows my kids to each have one (teenaged boy, preschool girl). I am college educated, work full time as a professional and my rent was just raised to $1585 a month with no utilities included. This was a $135 a month raise with no improvements, no utilities, and the place could use alot of work. They even charge to use storage closets. They rarely clean the common areas (maybe twice a year). This is a large well known conglomerate in the area. Not to diminish your hardship but, in the grand scheme of things, you may have actually lucked out with that increase amount
