Reply to comment by TheMonkeyPickler in Is it possible to artificially start a bank run? by ScaleAppropriate
A few states have laws against falsely disparaging a bank, but generally you can't get convicted, for First Amendment reasons, unless you are acting with actual malice. Unfortunately, doing this to drive a personal profit of your puts is pretty much the definition of malice.

Researchers find other records implying mountain lions can swim even farther to hop between islands, likely >2 km. “We are redefining the mountain lion in our minds as an animal that can swim.” by TR_54
If he wants your canoe, you will be swimming.

Reply to ELI5 if one nuclear bomb is 100’s or 1000’s times as powerful as the ones used to end WW2 wouldn’t just 1 or 2 wipe out most the world? by lsarge442
The nuclear weapons that the US and Russia would use in a nuclear exchange are not 100s or 1000s of times the size of the Hiroshima/Nagasaki bombs so the premise of this question is off to begin with. More are 20-50 times bigger.

It needs to be more like 5 meters wide to not burn up completely. This wont matter to people anywhere.

The Matt Helm movies were James Bond parodies. There was nothing scary about the plot.

Reply to comment by railroadbutterfly in TIL Mountain Gorillas almost never drink water. They get their hydration from from their plant diet and morning dew. Despite living in rainforests, they also tend to dislike rain and try to not get wet when crossing a stream. They have never been observed drinking water in the wild before 2013 by Ainsley-Sorsby
They have to wash down their hot pockets with something

Reply to Eli5 , why does a virus sometimes kill a host even though it needs said host to survive ? by vizo92
Viruses aren't really alive in the way that we think of it, and don't have any particular drive to do anything. The interaction of a host and a virus results in more virus being made, so that virus continues to exist, but it's neither trying to kill its host or to survive.

If there is a fire in the middle of the night, you get everyone the hell out first. Then call the fire department. Then if it is safe, get your fire extinguisher and try to put it out.
