They're a necessary evil, I suppose. The earbuds are so small, how else are you going to control them without touch controls? I can't imagine trying to work with physical buttons on something this tiny.

As long as they're sensitive enough to register a deliberate tap on the body, but not so sensitive that just adjusting/shifting the earbud in your ear triggers them, then they're ok for me.

Besides latency, I think the software would also need to know the frequency response of the headphones in order to send a correct inverted signal to the output?

I'd expect dedicated ANC headphones have their ANC tuned to their specific audio characteristics, and even more advanced implementations have dedicated mics inside the earcups to monitor the process in realtime?

I've only got one single dd iem currently - Fiio FDX (which is essentially an over-blinged FD7 ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…). Unless you also count earbuds, then add the FF3 to the list.

There - not any one of your usual suspects ๐Ÿ˜
