The only place I can imagine a parking garage making sense would be at the former police car depot at 11th & Reed, which I believe is being turned into a grocery store instead. I do think closing E Passyunk to cars would be very nice though.

Reply to RIP Black Cat Tavern. Where else can I have a beer in Deep South with a similar vibe? by fox_in_the_headlight
This is unfortunately how I found out that Black Cat closed, what a bummer. Anyway, Southhouse around the corner is pretty similar, South Philly Taproom is also a good place. Triangle Tavern and Pub on Passyunk East (aka P.O.P.E) skew a little younger demographically but are otherwise great spots.

Me too! One time I almost interviewed for a job there myself until a friend in the coffee industry warned me. I’ve heard nothing but horror stories and honestly I’m surprised they’ve been in business for so long!

Reply to where to adopt a cat? by kittylover3210
If you don’t mind heading to the suburbs Providence Animal Center in Media is one of the best organizations in the area. They also have a pretty robust vet setup in addition to adoption stuff

“Far Out Mitch” is that guys name. I used to work at the T-Mobile store at 5th and South and he came in to pay his phone bill pretty regularly

Reply to Going to World Cafe Live at night? by puffy-jacket
That an extremely safe place to see a show, it sounds like everyone warning you might just be wary of cities in general. World Cafe/WXPN is affiliated with UPenn and is technically on their campus, which is well lit and taken care of. Plus the venue itself has a restaurant and bar in it, so if you’re really feeling unsure about walking around you can get everything you need for the night in one spot. Also that should be a pretty good show!
