You need enough intelligence to know how to try, but not so much that you get analysis paralysis.

There is no depravity, no matter how deep, that you cannot justify using this argument.
Mutual consent does not magically make things acceptable. People will agree to utterly horrendous things.
A skilled manipulator can convince others to do things which are not in their best interests, and they will end up utterly convinced that it was their idea.
