I know a couple of people that did it. One was musician (guitar/singer) that plays pubs and another was a food truck. In both cases, they ended up staying in Florida full time after a year as the money was better. I believe Covid played a factor as well as Florida remained more open during.

They are iconic but cold, terrible fit/support and treads are terrible. I slipped pretty bad wearing them on wet brick sidewalk and never wore them again.
I really like the waterproof, winter Oboz hiking boots. They are warm, fit great. excellent support and great traction.

Mt Watatic, Pack Monadnock, Mt Wachusett are within 1 hour and are great hikes and rarely get overly crowded.
