Ok, on the F word, you brought up the Nazis, so sorry if that feels like a stretch. And I went out of my way to say "or other authoritarian regime in power"; you're unfairly characterizing what I said as only including fascism.
All this conversation started from was a couple of people saying "you know, being in the Boy Scouts I can understand the appeal of those types of youth groups" and you rolled in to basically say "nuh uh, the boy scounts aren't the Hitler Youth!"
You're not refuting our point, you're just going out of your way to defend the Boy Scouts when they're not even being attacked.

...still kind of missing the point. Yeah, there have always been youth organizations. And they've often been used as politicized youth corps/policing/etc by groups over the years.
Nobody's calling the Boy Scouts Hitler Youth. Because it's just an entirely different environment. If you can't wrap your head around the idea that a fascist state or other authoritarian regime in power would ABSOLUTELY utilize a group like that in a similar way, that's fine.

I'm not dumping on the scouts, I think you're whooshing here.
In a different environment, a quasi militaristic group for children like that, with ranks and camaraderie and such, would absolutely be a utilized and weaponized by bad actors.
I had a good experience in the scouts. Would do again. But if you can't recognize what we're talking about here I'd read a couple of history books. No hate on the scouts.

If I'm not mistaken, your turntable analogy is more apt than you may have meant. I believe that they're not even technically "secured" to the ship. As in, if a Titan were to pick up the ship and turn it upside down, the guns would just fall out of their mounts.
Obviously they're not going to go anywhere in the real world, I can't imagine how much they weigh, but I always thought that was cool.
Somebody with more knowledge, please correct me if I'm wrong!

You caught at least one downvote for this (not from me) but there's absolutely truth to what you said. I really enjoyed my Boy Scout days but in a slightly alternate timeline they would definitely have been some kind of youth corps.

Yeah it's bizarre, I used to live by there and the operation is huge. Sometimes the smell is... a lot.
If you've never been, the store itself is quite a trip. It's kind of a Jordan's Furniture vibe? Not quite as big, but very immersive and pretty intense around Christmastime. I did go one with my ex to buy a christmas tree topper star though, and the staff was really confused; they didn't have stars, just angels. Leaving money on the table there, Yankee Candle.

I'm not sure about Wachusett but if I'm not mistaken a whole lot of resorts are actually located on public land and just have like, some type of easements or something so they can run the equipment on it. I'd wonder what the rights are as far as just hiking it.

It's really brutal how these issues have been so misrepresented, and how they've become 100% self fulfilling in so many people's minds. No matter what you say to this guy to try to convince him otherwise, he will be absolutely, completely convinced that the evil drag queens are out there actively indoctrinating toddlers to be trans and just straight up chop their dicks off at like 5 years old or whatever. Facts be damned.

Yup.
You might hear somebody call out when they're becoming distressed, but if they go into active drowning there's little to no sound. Maybe some mild swishing sounds.

See, I don't think that that is something to be assumed; I'm sure plenty of films that throw more cash at their sequels didn't see a proportional increase?

I don't know if y'all are familiar with "Feeld", but it's a trip. Very sex positive, let's say. People can be direct. I'm a decent looking enough guy,I was pretty surprised at how forward some women would be.
My favorite was, as a cold open, before any "hello" or anything, "I want you to spit in my mouth and call me a slut."
Now I'm not terrifically prudish, and that's not the most shocking thing I've heard on there by far. But there was something about the fact that it was the first damn thing she said, it just felt wild. I basically said "well gosh I'm flattered but I'm gonna pass, happy hunting, miss!"

I mean, a study I posted in another comment found that the lag was something like .27 ms/cm of extra distance. So, in the grand scheme of things, it's basically negligible.

No, it's because it's all a part of the nervous system and all of the sensory organs at one point started in the same place. As species evolved, the sensory organs changed/moved as much as they needed to to cause the organism to survive and be able to reproduce.
At no point did evolution think gee, can't put the eyes too far away from the brain, that'll sure take too long to see things! Evolution doesn't think. It's blind luck.
And compared to the brain's processing speed, any latency from distance to the sensory organs is miniscule
"The researchers found that, after controlling for sex, age and temperature (it turns out your nerves are quicker when you’re warm), there was a 0.27 m/s decrease in the conduction speed of one of the leg nerves (the sural nerve) for each additional centimetre in height." https://mindhacks.com/2009/05/19/tall-people-have-slower-nerves-sensory-lag/
.27 ms per centimeter is basically negligible.
