Between 30- 60 million of them in fact for thousands of years. Strangely enough, no ecological degradation.
The US military killed almost all of them until only a few hundred remained. We (meaning the US) wanted to deprive native peoples a source of food. (By 1884 only 300 or so remained.)

Pretty much. The entire planet will be used to support one species. A surprising number of people seem totally okay with that which leads to the inevitable conclusion that human beings are really just smart bacteria.

In time the entire planet will exist to support just one species. We'll end up killing off most of our only companions on possibly the only inhabitable planet for complex life in the galaxy. And most people seem just fine with that.
