I think Housing Opportunities Made Equal still does matched-pair testing to build cases and try to discourage discrimination in the first place. They rely on volunteers to do the testing. https://homeofva.org/get-involved/become-a-tester/

Some bus systems have bullshit anti-homeless policies against people riding to the end of the line and then staying on when the bus returns in the other direction. I wasn't aware that GRTC had that policy, but maybe they do? Either way, it's annoying and the driver should just let you get on the bus rather than endangering your life crossing a road without a crosswalk.
Also, it's awful that there's no crosswalk near your stop :(.

Maybe volunteering as a greeter at VMFA? They might not be able to do coat check, but I think they could do the other roles. And the other volunteers tend to be seniors, so they'd get to know them during down times, especially if they volunteered for slow days like weekdays. https://vmfa.museum/support/volunteer/

This is not part of his announcement of a behavioral health package (which is primarily adjustments to the budget year that starts July 1, 2023), but his budget does seem not-bad in terms of behavioral health (it's pretty awful in my view in many other policy areas, and if he gets all his proposed tax cuts we may see future budget cuts hitting behavioral health).

Yeah, I dunno about keeping the state seat while serving in congress, but I think McClellan could probably stay in the state senate until she's sworn into congress. There's only a few days between the special general election date and the scheduled end of session, although of course session can be dragged out.

Firehouse primary on short notice is a less-than-ideal situation. At a glance, it looks like the committee managed to find a location in far southside (Lawrenceville), one in petersburg, one in south richmond (with good bus access), one in north richmond, and one in eastern henrico (just off I-64). Polling locations in every neighborhood are obviously preferable, but given that wasn't an option (for off-schedule primaries, party committees have to arrange their own logistics), their locations seem fairly reasonable to me considering that the most of the population of the district lives fairly centrally and that city residents are less likely to have a car and be able to drive to a distant location. They could have just picked one location and made everyone go there, but they didn't.

Congressman McEachin was a thoughtful champion for justice, and played a particularly important role as a leader in the state senate. I will miss him.

Congressman McEachin was diagnosed back in 2013 or 2014 and had rare complications that arose from the treatment.
CDC says you can wait until you're 45 unless you have family history. (In my case, my doc wanted me to get a baseline colonoscopy 10 years before the age at which my family member was diagnosed. Because my mother was diagnosed in her late 30s, I was supposed to get one in my late 20s.)
They didn't do general anesthesia for mine, it was the "twilight" stuff, but even though they say you might not be asleep from the twilight stuff, it always puts me out.

As I understand it, the idea behind the "thin blue line" flag is that there's a "thin line" of police between society / civilization and chaos (which they presume would exist / rule in the absence of coercive force / threat from armed agents of the state). I'm not really sure what the thin red line is supposed to represent, other than maybe an attempt to associate firefighters with police. So, if the goal is to express a need for mental health support for or love of firefighters, I don't think a "thin red line" flag is conveying that meaning to me. Something more direct might better convey that message, if that's what you intend.

Reply to Swath of Manchester up for grabs as former UPS office building set to hit the market by jbarrish
I don't know much about development, but it looks to me like they'll need some special use permits or zoning changes or something to go above four stories on 3 out 4 of the blocks (looks like only the existing office building block is RF-2, the rest are B-6 or R-63). Hopefully they'll want to go higher (if costar ends up being the buyer I think they would want to), so the neighborhood association might be able to bargain for a first-floor grocery store place as part of supporting that process.
I don't go to the Manchester Alliance meetings (I live in Blackwell, which is outside their zone), but people in old town manchester or industrial manchester could do so.

I sure hope people are making that choice rather than waiting. There's been a lot of studies recently on quicker transport to a trauma hospital versus EMS care in the field / on the way, and the take-away as far as I can tell is that faster transport to the hospital is much more important for survival and other outcomes than involvement of EMS.
Here's some of the studies:https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S002013831400271Xhttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5912155/
