Reply to Should we sell our car? by hourlongflyer
I've been car free since moving to JC and I save a lot of time and money not owning a car. I have an e-bike and I'm in the process of buying a trailer to haul larger amounts of groceries, etc. It's great for around town trips and i use transit during bad weather or for longer trips. I've rented a car in the past with getaround for longer trips.

I don't own a car so I bike to work and for all my errands. I've been doing this for the past few years mostly on streets without any bike infrastructure. After a while you learn which streets to avoid but I've found most of them to be comfortable enough and the protected bike lane network has been steadily growing the past few years.
I've used the Jersey City Bicycle Company who have provided amazing service.

I would contact their customer support with this issue. An account can be set up rather easily

I sold my car when I got here and purchased an e-bike and I couldn't be happier! There are enough bus lines to get you to a PATH station if you don't live close to one, Citi bike is rather convenient and Via is an affordable and convenient way to get around if you're outside of the central zone.

I'm pro e-mobility but I agree that any electric micro-mobilty that can travel over 20mph should need some type of registration/regulation

Totally agree, the data shows that safe riding behavior sky rockets when bicyclists have a dedicated protected bike lane. Most of these delivery workers are just trying to stay safe as they make a tough living.
