I use my iPhone 7 as a secondary phone to my Android. It still runs perfectly fine and I’m very reluctant to upgrade or buy a new phone.

If it still works, then you can use it as a music device or as a secondary backup phone in case your new one dies or is missing.
Or you can still keep using it and replace the battery and the speakers. Don't worry about the iOS versions. You just need to be more careful when going online.
My iPhone 7 is still going strong and I don't intend on replacing it. 86% battery health.

The SIM unit is probably fried since water + electronics = no good
