I strongly recommend your wife find a job first prior to picking out where to live, unless her job is going to be remote.
Where you live and how flexible her schedule is will have major implications on commute time. Distance is not a good indicator.

You’re not escaping 1st, last, security and brokers fee. That’s standard in Boston

Reply to comment by SouvenirOfTheYear in Does anyone know of a reasonably priced painter in Boston? We are looking for a painter for our nursery. The best quote we have had so far is $950 for ceiling, walls, baseboards and 2 doors. $950 seems like a lot for a 10x14 room. by lolotaylo
But they really aren’t at this rate. You didn’t include all of the other expenses they have to incur.
What about the costs associated with a commercial vehicle; gas, insurance etc?
Rent for an office or warehouse if it’s a larger company?
Wages aren’t as high as you think after having to paying for taxes/benefits for employees

Pretty Jewish neighborhood = Brookline. But that commute sucks to Southie unless you’re driving and have guaranteed parking. Don’t let the short distance fool you.

It was announced about 10 years that they were not going to use the Grand Junction for significant rail expansion. Closet thing that will probably still happen at some point is a station in the old Beacon Rail yard.
Grand Junction is a single track going through Cambridge and literally goes through MIT buildings.

It really depends on your interests, but in general December is not that busy for tourism. Boston is such a great city to see while walking around- it will not be fun if you’re used to a much warmer climate

Almost any convenience store or smoke shop. But you’re not going to like the selection. Anything flavored is banned. Even menthol cigarettes aren’t allowed here

Even with out traffic, Burlington is not 20 minutes away from downtown Boston. Burlington is not far, but it could be an hour commute depending on where exactly your office is

This is an important project, but OP is talking about a different section of the Pike.
It’s the “Newton Corner” exit.

Your insurance is unbelievably low. 800 to me seems reasonable if they are under 25
