Having been a ski instructor, the number one thing i advise adults is to check their ego at the door. You'll learn way faster and have a bunch more fun if you're not worried about how you look. Beginner skiers look goofy, it can't be helped. But laughing at yourself goes a long way, and you'll rapidly improve so you look slightly less goofy.

Have fun and tip your ski instructor!

Either the friend is racist or implying that there are racists in Vt. Both are probably true. I'm white, so can't attest to much, the racism I've seen here is well-meaning white people being racist. I'm sure there are horror stories of much worse (and there are plenty of news articles confirming the more overt racism, see Kiah Morris for example).

Vermont is a very white state. Once outside the greater Burlington area, racial diversity nosedives. If you are people of color, consider whether you'd want to be one of the few families of color in whatever Vermont town you choose. Most folks would welcome you with open arms (though slowly, as they do with everyone), but they're might be a few that really suck.

We've got an excellent woodstove and small and mighty little generator, so we kept the fridge mostly cold (we froze big yogurt containers to add to the cold mass of the fridge). We are lucky to have these things, for sure. There are still people who won't get power back until Friday or maybe even Saturday

If you're up for an hour hike/snowshoe, then the top of Mt pisgah (by lake Willoughby) is the roof of Vermont, you can see forever and ever. It's my favorite place in vt. Would be totally worth it - put in a good hike, earn the view, and get the girl. Happy to give more details if you're interested.

Be sure to swing by the blackbird bistro or Parker pie to celebrate after!

Ya, i was a vtel stan for years. A few months ago, our internet started cutting out three or four times a day. Annoying, but restarting the receiver always does the trick. Finally called them about it and their solution was for us to pay them 15-20 dollars more a month for new equipment. We're about to get CUD fiber optic running through here And this is how you want to compete with that. Lulz, gtfo.

Oh goodness, no, we're not bar hopping, just going to one place on the way to the airport, and i probably won't even have a drink. I appreciate your concern though, good looking out!
