The Aquidneck Farm burger at Rogue Island is awesome, I think Wednesdays or thursdays they do a beer and burger with fries deal too. I've heard good things about slow Rhode too. RI food fights usually does a competition in the summer but I didn't see who won this year.

Reply to Golf Lessons by PJfanRI

I go to Drew Anderson in North Kingstown, he has been voted best teacher in RI multiple times and his studio is great. I have shaved 9 strokes off my handicap and if I had more time to practice, it would be even more. He does an amazing job at breaking down your issues and working through drills you can do at home on top of the things you work on with him. Best part is he then sends a video after every lesson to go over your results and summarize what you work on. You can find him on instagram or google results driven golf.

yes and instead of people that live and work and try to contribute to the state getting better it just turns into a place for people from other towns to sleep in. Yeah you pay taxes but do nothing to actually help. You get paid well working in boston because it's supposed to pay to live in boston, our median income in RI is lower and hiking up our real estate just because you can just hurts your neighbors but that doesn't matter to any of you so who am i to complain.

You are coming here working from home for a company likely out of state and therefore contributing absolutely nothing to our state other than hiking up prices for the people that actually have a stake in where they live. Yeah you'll pay your taxes (with your money I'm sure you'll work on avoiding that too) but do nothing to advance anything here. Yeah we really don't need/want you. At least many of the people in high cost towns actually own businesses here or earned something here.

What type of food do you like? What type of atmosphere? For a fun partyish vibe and good food troop is pretty cool but definitely not extra fancy, lots of music and it's a cool spot. Bayberry garden I haven't been to since the summer but when I went a couple times it was more about the ambiance just being nice rather than energetic. Maybe cav? Good food, wicked interesting place, great staff but again not super energetic, people won't be getting up out of their seats to dance or anything. Rogue island is more intimate not fancy but had awesome cocktails and beer list, plus a few cool bars for after dinner nearby. bayberry beer hall similar and you can pop over to moniker after.

I've posted in this thread a bunch because I have a handful of friends that work there or have worked there. It's a good place to work in the day to day, they have pretty good benefits, give good pay for the type of work it is, half day fridays all year and any time a movie is out they work on they go for free. It's a dieing industry in the last 5 years as everyone is only using apps and phones and it's a big public company, so the anxiety of every quarter seeing what happens really messes with the people.

Also, as I said in another thread many people that lose their jobs are not in positions or types of work that they can easily move somewhere else and losing that job can pretty much ruin them, so it gets very personal.

It's also one of very few "stable" jobs for creatives especially around here. If you want to be a freelance artist of one sort or another you can but it's ridiculously hard to get a job with benefits in that space. So many of the people that work there are absolutely crushed and it can be an absolutely life shattering time for them. Engineers can engineer other places, PM's and sales and marketing can go find other places, not many places for people that love to create.

I have known at least one person who literally didn't know there was a difference between her DRLs and her normal lights. She thought her normal lights were high beams and never knew how to actually turn the high beams on. I wouldn't be surprised if some of these people were like that.

Snow tires aren't a necessity but the type of rubber is also better at reacting to both going and stopping in colder weather as well as more channels to displace water and snow so it's ideal if you have space to store your summer tires, also with having both you extend the wear of both sets of tires. I really like my general altimax arctics for great snow tires at a good price. On my Subaru it was unstoppable and they're great on my VW. Everyone thinks AWD is the savior but FWD on snow tires will usually be better than AWD on all seasons and also your stopping will be better. If you've never tried to come to a stop in snow or dealt with feeling ABS kick in you really should find an unplowed parking lot and slam in the brakes to get used to what it feels like, you will be amazed how long it can take to stop in snow.
