Oh god…

”I wasn’t that great with math, but I know +,-,*/, can I become a professionell data scientist like yesterday?”

I’m studying a Bachelor in ML/DS and had a pretty solid background joining the program. In 1 year, we’ve had maybe 50% drop offs because “Too much math bro”…

Do you know the ”swipe to write” feature that exists on iPhone and Android, where you can keep your finger down and “draw” the words?

There is some small company suing the big guys atm for this “feature” (imo I think a fraction actually uses it). When I heard it, I lost it as, how can you patent such a thing? I mean yea, it might not be the most simple software to write but it just feels so weird to be able to patent such a (useless) technique

Even if it will become illegal, the democracy of Machine Learning depends on it being legal. If Getty wins this, it would mean that a few pretty large companies would be the only ones that can build large models because they “own” most of the data. Facebook for example does a lot of stuff to prevent people scrape public data from their apps.
