I live in delco extremely close to the airport and had to take a taxi home as my phone was dead and I couldn't call an uber. Practically had to beg someone to take me, as none of them wanted to go anywhere but the city. Dude even had the gall to charge me extra, but I was so tired I wasn't going to fight it. Absolutely ridiculous and one of the many reasons people try not to use them any more.

My husband is from there, so I'm extremely familiar with the area! I'd suggest what's considered the West End, or Union Terrace which has smaller more affordable houses. The west end is BEAUTIFUL with massive mature trees, good sidewalks, very quiet, and good access to downtown (and Yoccos!). Union Terrace is a bit tighter since the houses are smaller, but still has a cute neighborhood feel.

Both places are very safe, and I would buy a house there if we ever moved up to the area!

A LOT more people have electric heat these days. Also the entire Eastern seaboard is on the same grid, and the entire eastern seaboard (honestly pretty much the entire country) is well below average temps right now. Where the northeast might normally be able to draw power from the southern states to keep the lights on, that's not an option here due to how widespread the issue is

If you've never been to Philly before I highly recommend taking some time for our museums and history!!

John Heinz Wildlife Refuge is right by the airport and great for a nice winter walk. The Delaware Water Gap area of the Poconos is beautiful with lots of great nature and hiking, though would definitely have to be weather dependent. Could also drive over to Hershey and see chocolate world, then hike Pole Steeple 😊
